The documentary "Venid a las Cloacas: la historia de La Banda Trapera del Río", directed by Daniel Arasanz, will be part of the next Sputnik TV Show, the reference of the music program in Spain. The history of the music band of Cornellà de Llobregat has a space in the public television, the real rebellion, the most fearsome pimps and the honesty of his participants have made a key moment in the music of this country. MARIEL, THE MINI-SERIES BY VANVELVET

Mariel, a series fiction, is the brainchild of Vanvelvet. It´s co-produced by La Xarxa de Televisions Locals de Catalunya and Lacamara with Magoproduction´s collaboration. Also with the support of Parc Fluvial del Llobregat and Raquel Castellà´s historical advising, the skilled professional specialized in the industrial colonies of Catalonya, where the production is taking place.
The serie is Inspired by the works of masters of light as Sven Nykvist and his work on "The Hour of the Wolf" by Ingmar Bergman and the narration of "Institute Benjamenta" by the Brothers Quay, Mariel belongs to the Noir-Drama genre and consists of 13 short chapters that will be beginning to shot next December. The project proposes a meeting between the classical and experimental, using the Super8 as a means and betting on a passionate and truly captivating story.

Chavela Vargas is 92 years old and and is fulfilling one of her wishes: to make a tribute to the spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. The book / CD is called "La Luna Grande" and is motivated by an overwhelming desire: to express her love for the poet, add music to his poems and remember her encounter with the poet’s presence in Spain, encounter that remains in her soul until today. Chavela's voice, as lighthouse of her memory and imagination, will illuminate gradually that world to which only she has access and that now has decided to share through a unique documentary directed by Rubén Rojo Aura and produced by Mago Production and MonkeyHeadFilms (Mexico) called El Ruiseñor y la Noche. The project will collect moments she is living, rehearsals, the recording, presentations and gather statements from people close to her and to the poet. In addition, following her desire of coming to Spain, she will present the disc with the company of our cameras. She will close the cycle in the place where all began and where it should end. Chavela will have fulfilled his last dream, meeting again with the presence of her old friend.

The Mostra de Cinema Colombia-Brasil included within the Jornades de Sensibilització 8ª DIASPORA - "Sense fronteres", will be held from 7 to 23 October in Barcelona and it has excellent productions of Magoproduction. The aim of the initiative is to conduct an awareness-raising, through visual arts and new technologies in relation to peaceful coexistence, solidarity and care of our home: the Earth. In the section "Animation from here and there" are two episodes of the famous Dr.W directed by Muyi Neira and, under the slogan of Tots per Tots, the documentary of Florencia P. Marano has been selected, the name of the film is Salah Azzaz, it is the journey through the life of an Algerian in Barcelona. Two different projects that are part of a cycle very eclectic.

Youth of Cornella de Llobregat in the 70's, they were nothing more than that. Their attitudes, intoxicated by smoke, toxic stuff, gangs, music and self-destruction were very "punk", but still no one knew what punk was all about. Precursors, against all odds, La Banda Trapera del Rio, laid the foundations of the true rebellion and the most fearsome pimps in a key moment in the music history of this country. "Venid a las Clocas" is an essential documentary to understand the role this group of foul-mouthed played, hence, their story has been awarded at the Music Documentary Festival In-Edit 2010.

"Otro Escenario" is finished

Prejudices are the first obstacle to overcome moral barriers and Norma Nebot has managed to stomp them and get into the Quatre Camins male Penitentiary, as if she was a fly on the wall, witnessing an unknown reality. 10 months filming and a year and a half for the post production were needed for "Otro Escenario" to show its protagonists, Raul, Jony, Giorgio, Kiko and Paul at the TeatroDentro group, an intimate space in which there is humor and revelry, and also sadness and sober and deep conversations. The director spent months getting to know people and actively participated in exercises and improvisations, allowing them to get used to her and her team. Another Stage is possible (the Spanish title “Escenario” means both “Stage” and “Scenario”) and Norma Nebot proves it in a honest, visceral and close project. An introspective exercise which shows what happens in a bubble inside an specific prison.

SALAH AZZAZ IN BARCELONA DOCUMENTARY EXHIBITION

The documentary film Salah Azzaz directed by Florence P. Marano has been choosen to be part of the documentary exhibition of the 8^th edition of the Diaspora, an event organized by the TV program Totsx Tots from Radio Com. The event will take place in October at the Jaume Fuster Library in the Plaza Lesseps in Barcelona. It will bring together a selection of documentary films that have won in national and international festivals.

About the documentary:

Salah was born and raised in Algeria, where he was a shepherd. One day he was forced to join army. His complicated situation brought him to Spain, escaping from his country as a political refugee. It’s being six years since Salah lives in Barcelona. The first months he was received in a place where he met social workers where he got involved in their activities. Some years later he became social worker himself. Now things have calmed down in Algeria and Salah is thinking how it would be to go back But the fact that he has built his own life in Barcelona keeps him away from the idea to return to his country. At the end of the day he has often the feeling that he belongs to more than one place and at the same time to no place at all.

"Not everything is the way it seems”, around this idea Vanvelvet, film director and head of the post production department in Mago, had built the little story called ‘Fish-net’, her most recent short film, shot in Super 8 and situated in the late 50’s. The shooting took place at a picturesque district of Barcelona full of colorful houses during the last days of autumn 2011.
After the naturalistic documentary ‘Mutism’ (2010), where Vanvelvet followed hunters of wild boars over the volcanic mountains of La Garotxa, she returns now to fiction with this short film. Soon more news about the premiere in Barcelona. Stay in touch !

Attention all Dr.W fans! The Dr. W book “The Strange Case of the Misplaced Senses” is already at the printers. This is the first book in a collection published by Mago Production and the Spanish editorial Blume, based on the adventures of the delusional and amazing Dr Woody Bonepecker, whose animated TV series ‘Dr.W’ has transcend boundaries. In this first publication, which deals with the senses, Dr. W himself has lost a sense, but he doesn’t know which one. So he begins to search for it. In this adventure he’s joined by his friends, some from the old gang and some other new fellows, who turn the reading experience into an amazing and fun journey suitable for all ages.

The book, published in Catalan, will be in Barcelona’s bookstores in the upcoming weeks and may also be purchased through Mago (info@magoproduction.com).We will announce the launch date very soon.

The 3D animation series of Magoproduction, is one of the ten projects selected to be introduced at the audiovisual market that is part of the 7th Animation Film Festival of Basauri-Bizkaia. Dr.W arrives to Portugal and Argentina!

Two more broadcasters are joining the 'Dr.W mania'. One of them is the Portuguese state channel ‘RTP’, which just acquired the first season that soon will be on air. And across the Atlantic Ocean, Argentine channel ‘Encuentro’ will also program animated series produced by Magoproduction. Soon six million argentine homes will be able to watch the most hilarious and exciting tv show, in its first introduction to the Latin-American television.

Woody Bonepecker is already practicing his best Spanish and Portuguese, adding this two new languages to a list, which start with catalan, and continued in less than a year with german and french. And we are just warming up. Be ready for the upcoming news!

Dr.W bounces to Australia!

The Fifth Heart of Gold International Film Festival has just announced that ‘The roasted consequence’ from Dr.W’s animated series has been selected as part of the International competition.

Next month the global warming episode of the Magoproduction TV series will be screened with another 170 audiovisual works from over 24 countries, over the four days of the festival in the Queensland city of Gympie, right on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland of Australia.

Following the premieres of the season. This month the incredible doctor Woody Bonepecker arrived to the German and French television. Since January 9th, Arte TV channel began broadcasting the first season of this animated series produced by Mago Production, known as ‘L’incroyable docteur W’ in France. Every Sunday at 8:10 am and 8:40 am Dr.W appears with two premier episodes, which are repeated every Wednesday and Saturday at the same hour in the morning.

For this weekend, Arte has scheduled the premiere of ‘The roasted consequence’, episode about the global warming, and also ‘The sandwich standoff’, where our dear doctor explains why we have Goosebumps.

Short film ‘Ninety-two’ leaps from the festivals to Catalan national television

On Saturday January 22, "Ninety-two" debuts on the small screen. After nearly two years of travelling to local and international festivals, the short film directed by Martin Guido and produced by Mago Production will be broadcast in the Sala 33 show on Televisió de Catalunya (TVC) and presented by award-winning film journalist Alex Gorina.

About the short film:

Ninety-Two doesn't tell a story. It's about the turning point of a story - the determinant. It's the timelessness of an endpoint, the urgent need to end-up with something. it is something that doesn't matter because the past never says more than the present suggests itself. Ninety-Two sheds light (and shadow) over stormy ties and damming sins.

Mago Production and Dr.W

Back in 2007, Woody Bonepecker took his first steps in the animation series. His first role was as a supporting character in a short film called 'Impeccable'. He was an ironic and sinister doctor in charge of transforming the face of a boxer into the face of a handsome lover, not knowing that years later he himself would experience surgery with pencils and erasers. In 2008, by the hand of his creator Muyi Neira, Woody Bonepecker, abandoned his pallor, gained color in his cheeks and was renamed as Dr.W, a funny and sweetly delirious scientist, who starred his own TV show with a bunch of equally crazy characters ready to help him through the wildest experiments.

With an early version of the pilot episode in 2008, Mago Production backed and believed in the project of Dr.W series and received the support of TVC and the ICIC. After nearly two years of hard work, despite the crisis and global warming, thanks to a great, invaluable team of 22 professionals, they finished the series in May 2010. During the production of the series, the first episode of Dr. W won awards in international festivals. Before production was completed, the channels YLE (Finland) and Arte (France,

) requested the purchase of the first season. In late 2010, Mago began the production of the first book of the first collection of Dr. W. And in 2011 it not only announces the release of the series in Catalonia but also in Finland,

Wherever he goes our oldest fighter never leaves unnoticed. This time the shortfilm Impeccable won an Honorable Mention in the The 28th Sport Movies and TV 2010. Milano International Ficts Fest, the last of 14 festivals, which were held in various cities on 5 continents over this year, and are part of the World Championship Sports TV and Film.

Among the 180 selected works from 60 countries, five works were honored with this special award. One more recognition for the debut film piece by Cuatro Mamíferos and Magoproduction.

Magoproduction is overwhelmed with emotion. The rockumentary 'Come to the sewers: The Story of La Banda Trapera del Río', directed by Daniel Aransanz and produced by Magoproduction received the National Award for Best Documentary and the Audience Award at the VIII Beefeater In-Edit.

Mago prepares Dr.W's book

In Spain, Dr.W's premier promises a double surprise. Blume editorial will published a book collection starred by the crazy doctor, which first volume 'The strange case of the missing sense', is scheduled for publication in January 2011, coinciding with the television premiere of the series by TV3.

The director of the series, Muyi Neira, is also in charge of the desing of the book, with part of the art team that worked for the tv series. Although we can not reveal too many details of this first volume, we can tell it will be as fun and delirious as the doctor himself. Stay tuned, because soon there will be more surprises.

Come punk lovers! Come to the sewers! In-Edit has already started, and this years edition of the International Musical Documentary Film Festival of Barcelona is special because it will present the rockumentary produced by Mago Production, about the story of the legendary 70's spanish punk band La Banda Trapera del Río.

The premiere will be on Thursday 4 of November at 22h in Aribau Cinemas 1, and will be presented by the director Daniel Aransanz, the scriptwriter Jaime Gonzalez, and Morfi Grei from La Trapera. For those who can't make it to the premiere, there will be a second screening on Friday 5 at 20h in the same cinema.

'Come to the sewers' is part of the National Selection in Competition of the festival. Outside the cinema, there will be tables for the attendees to vote for the documentary that will win the Audience Award.

We won't tell you how great this rockumentary is. We'll just leave you the trailer and meet you at the cinema. Because we are sure you won't miss it.

One more for the Ninety-two! The Soria International Shortfilm Competition has announced the 65 works in the Official Selection, including the shortfilm directed by Martin Guido and produced by Mago Production.

The event celebrates this year no less than it's twelfth edition, which will take place from 18 to 28 November in Soria. Located on the banks of the Duero river, this city in Castilla and León will offer during 10 days a variety programming that includes workshops and exhibitions in addition to the screening of the selected shortfilms from around the world.

The Ninety-two will be screened on thursday 25 of november. If you are around the city of Soria, don't miss it!

Animation for Kingsolver's book release

Task accomplished! The most recent animated work for Random House by Mago Production is ready. We are talking about the production of the promotional clip of 'Lacuna', the last book of the renowned American author Barbara Kingsolver, who just earned this year the International Orange Prize for Women Writers of Fiction.

Published by Lumen, the novel tells the story of Harrison William Shepherd, a quiet and dreamy boy who shares through his diary his experiences in Mexico during the years of the revolution, when he also frequent artists like Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Leon Trotsky.

Impeccable will compete in Milán!

Impeccable from start to finish! The 28th Sport Movies and TV 2010. Milano International Ficts Fest has included the shortfilm by Cuatro Mamíferos and Mago Production as part of the Official Selection in competition.

After winning the award for Best Animated Film at the BCN Sports Film in early summer, Impeccable returns to the ring to dispute a prize, and this time nothing less than the one of the end of the international circuit. Because this is the last of 14 festivals held around five continents over this year, as part of the World Championship Sports TV and Film, which has the support of 103 countries associated with the International Federation of Cinema and Television Sportifs (FICTS).

From October 28th to November 2nd, three locations in the center of the Italian city will host the event which will put on screen a thousand sports champions, and will be attended by 250 producers and 300 journalist covering the projection of the 180 selected works from 60 countries. What a promising season finale!

Theo De Marcousin joins The Flying Squirrels!

This keeps getting better! The known and talented French writer and consultant Theo De Marcousin (aka Christopher Erbes), is on board for The Flying Squirrels as co-producer and writer! The new 3D animation project by Mago Production, which is scheduled to start in the coming months, follows the adventures of four friends struggling to win an exceptional street ball championship.

De Marcousin, who currently oversees and also writes for the new 3D version of the remembered series Maya the Bee, has previously worked for Canal +, Disney, Nickelodeon and Fox Kids. He also published the books 'Oscar and Fiu' and 'Oscar and Fiu forever', along with the Oscar-winning Dutch illustrator Dudok de Wit (Father and Daughter).

The Flying Squirrels, which also has the support of ICIC and TV3, will be screening its new trailer this October in Cannes - France at the Mipcom Jr. (2-3 Oct) and MIPCOM (4-8 Oct). New season starts just fine! Going on with the Magotour, in October our animated team will be at the French Riviera attending the MIPCOM JR. and MIPCOM. And in November, the German capital expects Dr.W to race for the prize in the KUKI FESTIVAL.

As Jack the Ripper would say: 'Let's go by parts'. First, from 2 to 8 October, Peter Keydel and Sara Calatayud from Mago will travel to Cannes to attend two of the most important audiovisual content markets in the world: MIPCOM JR. and MIPCOM. They will be in the booth of Catalan Films & TV - R32.25 featuring among other news the latest trailer for The Flying Squirrels, the extraordinary animation series that is revving up to start production on the next months.

Then in November, Muyi Neira, director and creator of Dr.W -as well as The Flying Squirrels - will travel to Berlin invited to present 'Global warming: The roasted consequence', amusing and instructive episode of the series selected to compete in the category "Film naturally - The nature and enviroment program" at the 3rd International Short Film Festival for Children and Youth: KUKI FESTIVAL. 'Venid a las cloacas' (Come to the sewers), is the latest documentary project of Mago Production, which has been included in the National Official Selection of the In-Edit Beefafter 2010 (8th edition), the renowned Barcelona International Musical Documentary Films Festival. Directed by Daniel Arasanz, this film adresses the history of the legendary spanish punk rock band of the seventies 'La Banda Trapera del Río', 33 years after its formation.

Responsible for the most visceral rock of the Transition, and authors of the first 'hard rock' song in catalán, La Trapera is one of the few Spanish bands that can boast of being at the vangard of the music that was brewing in the rest of the world. The rockumentary, which opens in October at the festival, approach us to the turbulent history of the band since its inception and everything that led them to become legend, including their recent tour around Spain along the 2009.

In September Mago is unstoppable! Next week, Peter Keydel and Sara Calatayud from Mago team will travel to Hungary to attend the Cartoon Forum from 14 to 18 of September in the city of Sopron. A week later, Mago will be at the Animadrid Festival, with an episode of the series Dr.W as part of the 'Contemporary Screen'. animadrid is one of the most important international animation festivals which starts this month on the 23rd of September.

First stop: Cartoon Forum. Among other projects and surprises, Mago arrives to this new edition with the complete first season of Dr.W (www.thedoctorw.com) and advances of what will be its next animated production: The Flying Squirrels (www.thefsquirrels.com) for which is expected to reach coproduction agreements.

On friday 17th the Mago team will be in Rogaland Lounge from 9h to 13h welcoming all interested in knowing more about this groundbreaking and original series featuring four friends dreaming of winning a legendary streetball competition.

Mago Production returns to the big apple, and this time by the hand of the 92 short film by Martin Guido which will be screened as part of the Official Selection of the 9th edition of 'Losaida Cortos Latino Film Festival', outdoor event to be held this Sunday 29 in the historic Lower East Side of New York.

Since 2002 this festival has been garnering recognition as a tool of integration, also revaluing a space in the Latino community - constantly threatened by real estate pressures - providing this kind of cultural events. In 2005 the LCLFF crossed the ocean and landed in Barcelona, where it has since then a local version. Cities such as Madrid, Bahía and Amberes also housed the festival which looks forward to be held in China, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador and Argentina on the upcoming years.

After the storm, the sun came out. But at Mago good news are still raining. The Festival de creación audiovisual joven-Baumann c.01 has selected '92' to be shown along with 22 other short films as part of the Out of Competition Section, category implemented with the aim of showing a selection of the best young works of the actual audiovisual scene, and that includes on the one hand, shortfilms with career, secondly, a selection of works that enriches the view of the audiovisual scene.

The Servicio de Juventud i Tiempo Libre del Ayuntamiento de Terrassa and the Baumann Short Film Festival, associated this year to present the first version of this new festival, created with the aim of being a platform for young creation, approaching the digital revolution which meant the incorporation of new technologies to create new visual languages.

For this edition 245 works arrive from Spain an other countries. Finally 60 short films qualified for the Official Selection in competition. The 82 works in the program of this festival, which also includes workshops and conferences, will be screened at the event to be held in Terrasa from 13th to 19th of September.

Mago at 'Pilgrimage of the coffins'

Last Thursday in As Neves was held the Pilgrimage of Saint Martha of Ribarteme also known as the 'Pilgrimage of the coffins', the oldest in Galicia (dating from 1700), and one of the world's most bizarre fests. Because it's followers are 'survivors', people who raffled death because they asked the saint to intercede for them (or a loved one). Since then they return once a year to this remote galician village to show their gratitude barefoot or on their knees, while others drift on shoulders in a coffin waiting to be granted the miracle.

Peter Keydel and Sara Calatayud from Mago Production, joined the australian artist Claudia Terstappen and the photographer Greg Wallis up to Ribarteme to film the event. The material will be part of the film and photo documentary of the couple, it is about the various rituals that are practiced in the world around death. The project also includes images taken by Terstappen and Wallis in Indonesia, Mexico and Australia.

The exhibition is this work is scheduled for next year at the DKM Museum of Duisburg, Germany. In addition, the material filmed during the last week of July in Galicia will be part of a documentary, produced by Mago Production.

On 2008 we work on 'What is the what', an animated video that was selected to get exposed in the Barcelona Museum CCCB, this year Random House Mondadori call us to repeat the experience to produce an animation for the promotion of Dave Eggers new publication in Spain: 'Zeitoun', a history based on the new real life hero of the famous North American writer.

The US-american Abdulrahman Zeitoun jumped into a canoe and rowed through New Orleans, offering his help door by door to his neighbors. And after this he got arrested acused as a suspect of terrorism.

Eggers new book had such success on the United States, that it will be soon taken to the cinema and according to the New York Times, director Jonathan Demme (The silence of the lambs) has bought the rights to make an animated version.

The renowned International Independent Film Festival of Elche just announce the shortfilm Official Selection for it's thirty-third edition, which includes "Ninetytwo" directed by Martin Guido and produced by Mago Production. The Xocolate Hort, Arenales del Sol, Aula CAM and Odeon Cinemas are some of the places of this Valencian town, that will be the meeting points for the projection of the 61 participating films from the 14 to 23 of July.
This event was founded in 1978 with an initial approach based on the idea of showing summer cinema starring national and international contemporary shorts. This year will be held also other activities such as courses, lectures and debates.

The world started playing football for the world cup in South Africa while in Barcelona our boxer Impeccable was winning his home match in the Barcelona International Fict Festival: BCN Sports Film, receiving the award for the best animated film.

Twelve were the awarded works last Saturday night at the festival's closing, after two days of screening of an elaborated selection of the best audiovisual productions related to the sports in the world and its values. The event was held at the Museu Olimpic i de l'Esport in the presence of personalities like Prof. Ascani, Alejandro Blanco, Jordi Martí i Grau, Albert Solé, Romà Cuyàs, Jordi Pinto, among others.

Dr.W's production officially ended this week, and in Mago Production we join one more reason to the celebrations: the sale of the series to ARTE. The prestigious franco-german tv channel has bought the digital terrestrial, satellite and cable broadcasting rights of the first season (26 x 4 ') of our 3D animated series. The release in Germany and France will be in January 2011.

The series, directed by Muyi Neira and produced by Mago Production in collaboration with Television de Catalunya, and with the support of ICIC, was about a year and a half in production, and developed entirely at Mago's studio in Barcelona by a great team of 22 professionals.

In addition, the national premiere of the series through TVC is previewed for this year. The transmission by the finnish channel YLE will start soon. YLE bought the rights of the first 8 episodes last April. Now, the completed series is expected to get sold to the other interested broadcasters.

One of the projects of Mago Production for this year will start soon with the development: its The Flying Squirrels, the animated series which also has the support of TVC and ICIC.

Great News! This summer, the short film "Ninetytwo" directed by Martin Guido and produced by Mago Production, will be screened in three countries as part of the Official Selection of several International Film Festivals. It has also been chosen as part of an online competition where the shortfilm can be watched and voted.

To begin, from the 8th to 13th of June the Turkish city of Adana will receive the director, who has been invited to participate with his short at the 17th edition of "Adana Golden Boll Shortfilm Mediterranean Competition ". In parallel, the same week, from the 10th to 13th, the "Ninetytwo" will participate in the 6th edition of the "International Shortfilm Festival Detmold in Germany. From there it will fly to Bulgaria, specifically to the town of Balchik, where will be held the 8th edition of the "Film Palace Festa" from the 19th to 26th of June, 2010.

Guido's film is also one of 278 works from 58 countries chosen to participate of the Internet Contest 2010 part of the International Festival "I've Seen Films Awards". This section consists of an online competition where the audience becomes the jury, choosing the winning work and other 20 finalists, which will be awarded and then projected in Milan during the festival days in October. Mago at the Non Stop Barcelona Animation!

This 13th and 14th of may do not miss the Non Stop Barcelona Animation, a whole event around the animation, which places it at the forefront of the cultural scene in Barcelona. ¿And how? Proposing a series of activities related to animation, from master classes to projections, which stimulate and sensitize the public at the same time affording the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills to those who already have are developing on the profession.

On Friday 14th we'll be as guests offering a conference with part of the production team of Dr.W-animated series co-produced with TVC- where we'll tell you all about the development of the series from its conception to its realization. There will also be Xavi Romero and Oriol Sala-Patau from TVC, who will speak about the current situation of the projects co-produced by its broadcaster.

The event, organized by Apemanstudio, Cinenext, and Imago Association, in partnership with the Masters in Animation at the University Pompeu Fabra, will be held simultaneously in the auditorium of the university and the Casablanca theater in Barcelona. Impeccable at the Barcelona Sports Film!

Impeccable still alive and will give the fight for a while! The 3D animated short film created and directed by Cuatro Mamíferos, has now been selected as part of the official program of the International FICTS Festival Barcelona: BCN Sports Film, a worldwide exhibition that is part of a circuit that brings together 14 festivals relating audiovisual productions with sports and its values.

A few weeks before the end of the production of Dr.W’s TV series from Mago Production, we are already celebrating the first sale. The Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE has acquired the first eight episodes - from 26 -, of the first season of this animated 3D series for children up from 6 years.

Dr.W, a co-production with TV3 (Catalunya Television), started to be developed in the beginning of 2009. The pilot episode participated at different international festivals, earning major awards, among them the Golden Cinéglobe at the Scientific Film Festival of CERN 2010 (Switzerland), the Autodesk Award in the category of TV series at the EXPOTOONS 2009 (Argentina), and the 2nd Prize for Best Short Film at the Cutout Fest 2009 (México).

Apart from YLE, some other international broadcasters have shown interest in our series. The names are still a secret, but we hope to close deals and bring great news after our visit to the MipTV, which will take place from 12 to 16 of April in Cannes. There, at the booth of Catalan Films - R33, will be Sara Calatayud and Peter Keydel from Mago, representing the team and meeting with those interested in purchasing the Dr.W or others interested to coproduce our new star, the animation project: The Flying Squirrels!

OMAR and IMPECABLE :: A-Tube Official Selection

In May, we go to Italy! Because the Global Animation Film Festival A-Tube 2010, has selected IMPECABLE and OMAR as part of its Official Competition.From the 30 shortfilms selected, three are spanish productions (and two of them from our people!). The festival, which this year celebrates its second edition, will take place at Varese from May 16 to 23.

A curious fact: Did you know that Dr.W first appearence was at Impecable? His look then was very different from the one he has on his actual Tv show... Take a look at the trailer and surprise yourself!

About the shortfilms:

IMPECABLE (Muyi Neira, Carlos Flete, Marcelo Alvarez and Huy Nguyen) is a story about love in the cruel world of boxing, a story that plays with the concepts of beauty, tragedy and the absurdness of life. It's a metaphor for the contemporary life shown through a lonely character, who is taken by forces that he doesn't understand, accepting his destiny in silence.

Dr.W:: Cinéglobe winner!

At Mago we started the week at it's best, receiving our award-winning director Muyi Neira, who returned super accelerate after spending the weekend at the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). Was he visiting the Particle Accelerators? That too, but most of all he was representing our team at the 2nd Cinéglobe International Scientific Shortfilm and Documentaries Festival, where the Dr.W: Clash of titans was awarded as the Best Shortfilm in the Scientific Documentary category.

The event, held at the CERN Globe of Science and Innovation, located in the Swiss town of Meyrin, featured a panel of audiovisual professionals and scientists of international renown, preceded by Mark Levinson (The Talented Mr. Ripley, Seven) . Among the 80 shortfilms and documentaries in competition, coming from 27 countries, the jury awarded three projects with the Golden Cinéglobe in the categories of General Fiction, Science Fiction and Scientific Documentary. The audience also elected their favorites in each category, awarding them with the Cinéglobe Audience Award.

This is the third award earned by the Dr.W at an international festival, and the first of this year as the winner of its category.Bravo Doctor!

Mago at Kidscreen!

Cinéglobe 2010 :: Running for the prize at Geneve!

We got to the final round! Dr.W has been chosen as one of the finalists in the International Festival of Scientists Shortfilms and Documentaries: CinéGlobe 2010, which will take place on February 16 to 20 at Geneve.

Muyi Neira, creator and director of Dr.W will travel next week as a guest to Switzerland, representing the great team working on the development of this unique animation series, in production now at Mago studios in Barcelona.

Cinéglobe scheduled for it´s second edition, nine sessions shown in 18 screenings over five days where the assistants will have the chance to watch projects from all the world, at one of the most important international audiovisual event with scientific issue.

Omar :: Cortomieres Official Selection!

At Mago, we welcome the new year with a great news: Omar, 3D animation piece directed by Karina Letelier and Triana Raya from Mago Production, has been chosen as part of the Official Selection of the 9th Mieres Shortfilm Festival. This event includes five categories, were Omar is one of the 11 shortfilms in competition within the animation category. The event, which will take place this January 2010 from the 22 to 29 at Asturias, will give out 14,000 euros in reward for the winners. This nomination adds to the list of accolades earned by this heartwarming story of patience and friendship throughout 2009.

The International Animation Festival "Expotoons 2009" has awarded Dr.W with the Autodesk Price as the second best Tv series in competition. The award party will take place on friday night (november 27) at the Sheraton Libertador Hotel in Buenos Aires - Argentina.

In representation of Dr.W 's fenomenal team based in Barcelona, there will be our argentinian script writer parent: Mr. Hugo Guido.

In Argentina, the International Animation Festival "Expotoons 2009" has shortlisted Dr.W as part of it´s Official Competition. Our 3D animated series will compete with other 23 projects - three of them from Spain - within the category of Television Series.

In it´s third edition, this event which will take place from 25 to 28 of November at the Sheraton Libertador Hotel in Buenos Aires, will be showcasing more than a hundred of works from around the world, selected within the four categories this animation festival includes: Best Feature, Best Shortfilm, Best Television Series and Best Advertising.

Dr.W :: Winner in Mexico!

The 1st Animation Festival CutOut Fest 2009 which took place this past weekend in the city of Queretaro - Mexico, awarded Dr.W: Clash of titans as the 2nd Best Animated Short Film in the 'Narrative' category, highlighting this 3D animation work, which is part of the series created by Muyi Neira on development at Mago Production, between the 47 works that made up the official selection contestant.

The awards ceremony took place on Saturday 14 at the "The Factory", and there it was our partner Karina Letelier, from Mago Production, who traveled last week to Mexico invited by the festival as the winner of the Jury International Prize with "Omar", animated work she co-direct voted as Best Spanish Shortfilm . Pleasing was her surprise when she have to climb back on stage to receive a second award representing the great team working on the development of Dr.W tv series. An achievement which Mago appreciate and celebrate loudly from this side of the world. Bravo!

Designed as a nonprofit event, this festivals main objective is to disseminate audiovisual animation in short formats, existing as a cultural vehicle, creating a space for exchanging ideas, knowledge and artistic purposes. This year,Spain was the guest country. This is because Catalonia is considered one of the most prolific in the world's cultural context.
In its first edition, the CutOut Festival register more than 90 works, were 47 animation shortfilms got into the official selection from which the jury chose three winners in each category (Narrative and Non-Narrative works), basing its ratings on parameters such as the use of technology, the originality of the idea , narration, audio design and creativity.

Mère:: Best Shortfilm Documentary!

The past weekend, "Mère" shortfilm documentary direct by Florencia P. Marano and produced by Mago Production, won the Best Shortfilm Documentary prize at the "1st International Documentary Film Festival: Gender, Cultural Diversity and Miscegenation" that took place from October 14 to 17 in Soria (Castilla y León- Spain). The Cultural Center "Palacio de la Audiencia" exhibited during four days the participant works of this festival that pretends to be a platform for exhibition of audiovisual works, which among other things, could contribute to evidence the silenced realities of women from different communities.

Marano's work, filmed in Spain and Senegal during 2008, reveals us the life in Thiaroye Sur Mer, a village near Dakar and a key starting point for illegal migrants to Spain, where a group of women that founded the Association of Mothers of Cayucos Victims, organized to replace the revenue of their sons, spending their days despite the loss.

'Mutism':: Screening Selection at Miradas.Doc Festival!

The documentary 'Mutism' by Vanvelvet produced at Mago Production studios has been selected to be part of the Official Screening at the Market of International Documentary Film Festival from the South: Miradas.Doc, which will take place this November (from 1 to 7) at Guía de Isora - Canary Islands (Spain).

'Mutism' is a direct cinema documentary which explores the difference between man and nature, between those who "bear the name" and those who "get it", and observes its variations through a boar hunting scene that happens during the autumn in the middle of the Garrotxa's volcanic mountains.

Dr.W at Bucharest for the Anim'est '09!

This week, from the 5th to 11th of October the city of Bucharest in Romania will receive an avalanche of animated series, films and shortfilms from all over the world, gathering to join the International Animation Film Festival ANIM'EST, where 'Dr. W:: Clash of titans' competes for the first prize as part of the Official Selection of short films. The series director Muyi Neira and Karina Letelier from Mago Production are already in the "City of Joy" to participate in the screening and talk about the project, which is part of the 3D animated series currently in production at Mago's studios in Barcelona.

The 'Dr.W' stands out among the four spanish production projects in competition in this category composed by 58 short films selected from different countries such as Chile, France, Turkey, Russia, Iran, England, Italy, Germany, among others.

Flying Squirrels :: In the Top 10 at Cartoon Forum!!

After the end of the 20th edition of Cartoon Forum on September 25, the organization announced the ten top projects that garnered the most interest among ibroadcasters, investors, producers and distributors at the meeting. Guess who was on the sixth place? "The Flying Squirrels" ! Mago Production's animated series project which has it's premier at this international exhibition, by the hand of Peter Keydel and Sara Calatayud, that gained a great reception from the audience.

The festival, which took place in Rogaland - Norway, also revealed that European animation remains resilient thanks to its creative wealth, high quality and significant sales potential; and showed that animation productions are becoming increasingly attractive and competitive on the international stage.

Dr. W ' s festival travelling schedule has a new stop at Armenia, were the Animation Festival ReAnimania '09 will take place gathering in it´s first international edition around 31 countries, including France, Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Spain and Iran.

The event, which will take place in October from the 3rd to the 6th, includes exhibitions dedicated to the history of comics and the projection of a hundred of short films and 5 feature-length animation films that will compete in several categories, like Best animated Film, Best animated short Film and Best Television Program, where Dr.W is one of the 7 projects that are part of the official selection.

This Tuesday 22, Peter Keydel and Sara Calatayud from Mago Production will be arriving to Stavanger (Rogaland – Norway), to participate of the 20^th Cartoon Forum edition, the European Forum for Co-production of Animated TV series were Mago’s animated 3D series ‘The Flying Squirrels’ is one of the 63 projects participants selected to be presented to all the key players of the animation industry: 250 “buyers” that include over 100 broadcasters and 150 investors. Mago Production’s pitching will take place on Wednesday 23 at 12h.

This year Cordoba's Animation Festival ANIMACOR, had choosed among a total of 381 works (7 films, 21 TV series and 353 shortfilms) our Dr. W as part of the Official Competition Section of TV series.

The event, which will turn once more Cordoba city into an international animation showcase, will take place from November 2 to 7, featuring a total of 44 works from 17 countries: USA, France, Japan, Germany, Uruguay, Belgium, Portugal, Latvia, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Russia, Poland, Israel, Britain and Spain.

"Omar" goes to Mexico awarded by CutOut Fest '09!

In it's first edition, the short film animation festival CutOut Fest - Mexico 2009, which has Catalunya community as special guest this year, has awarded with the International Jury Prize to "Omar",3D animation piece directed by Karina Letelier and Triana Raya* from MagoProduction.

As part of the prize, "Omar" will cross the Atlantic to Queretaro - Mexico on November 12, by the hand of one of its creators, to participate in the introduction, screening and discussion about the short film winner at the festival.

A great news Mago will celebrate drinking tequila and dancing rancheras as the best start of this long weekend. Chido!
